The registration number plate must be displayed both in the front as well as at the rear of the vehicle

  • In case of transport vehicles, the number must also be painted on:
    1. Right and left side of the body of the vehicle
    2. On the partition between the driver and the passengers
    3. If there is no partition, it can be displayed on or near the dashboard in such a manner that it is clearly visible to the passengers
  • Fancy lettering, raised or shining metal numbers are not permitted
  • Nothing except the registration mark should be written on the number plate. The plate should not have any line or any colour, or any other kind of marking on it.
  • The number plate must always be clean and clearly visible
  • The colour combinations for private vehicle (non-commercial) should be in black letters on white background. Whereas, the colour combinations for commercial vehicles should be in black letter on yellow background.
