The April issue of Autocar 2008 has feature a article on the comparision between The Swift Dzire, The Swift hatchback and various other Maruti cars.
The following is the brief of what that article has to say about the newly launched Swift Dzire.
Add a boot onto the Swift and you get a new mid-size saloon, but does it feel any different from the hatchback? That is what this article tries to explore.
True to its word the Dzire gives Maruti a crucial presence in the lower mid-sized segment, after the demise of Esteem one of the best selling car of the yesteryears. Esteem was a hot favorite amongst the tight budgeted goverment officials and middle class families, launched in 1994 it soon became India's best luxury car.
The Dzire and the Swift hatchback are like identical brothers with the only difference on the grille that uniquely differntiates the older and smaller cousin.
The interior of both the cars is a lot similar, except for the range-topping ZXi. You get steering mounted audio controls. The seats are large with lot of support in the underthigh region.
The only major difference in the Dzire and the Hatchback is, that the Saloon features are more refined. As a replacement of the Esteem, this car makes a lot of sense.
As per the article, the Dzire has an impressive equipment list and is easy on the pocket. Yet, on the other hand, the rear seating is slightly cramped and the rear styling looks awkward.
